Ambassadors share love of reading
Posted: 13th May 2021A love of reading is being shared among our school community by newly appointed ambassadors.
Reading ambassadors have been appointed at Roydon Primary Academy for their love of reading and enthusiasm to share with others.
The ambassadors will work in various ways to inspire their peers to pick up a book –
- All new books will be read and reviewed by an ambassador before they are added to the library, so they can recommend it to others.
- Ambassadors will organise whole-school assemblies to celebrate children’s successes and share key messages about reading.
- Ambassadors will support reading across the school each week by becoming reading buddies. They will share their love of reading anything from newspapers to magazines and comics to sports reports and help others to pick books from the library they might enjoy.
- Each year, the ambassadors will select books from Waterstones to restock the library with new releases, as well as classics which need replacing.
Year 5 pupils were invited to submit a book review and ten were picked to become the school’s first reading ambassadors.
Anna Myatt, head of school, said: “We are passionate about reading at Roydon Primary Academy.
“Being a reading ambassador is all about reading for pleasure and sharing the deep enjoyment of reading a great book.
“The reading ambassadors are excited to share their love of reading with their peers.”
Limited places are available in the 2021-2022 Reception cohort at Roydon Primary Academy. Contact the school office for more information.
