Lessons learnt down on the farm
Posted: 7th May 2019What better place to learn about animals than down on the farm?
Reception pupils from Roydon Primary Academy visited Lee Valley Park Farm as part of their topic on animals.
Pupils, some of whom had never seen the animals in real life, explored the farm and saw the animals they had been learning about.
Enzo Vullo, Elm class teacher, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for the children to experience the animals they had been learning about. The sights, sounds and smells of a farm really bring teaching of this topic to life.
“This was the first time many of the children had been on a trip without a member of their family, which gave them an opportunity to develop independence, self-confidence and resilience. That has a positive effect on all aspects of their learning and moves them closer to our goal of developing independent learners.”
