Grateful families donate to food bank
Posted: 15th December 2020Families showed their gratitude to their child’s teachers by supporting a local charity.
Reception teachers at Roydon Primary Academy suggested parents donate the money they would normally spend on gifts for them to Harlow Food Bank.
In response, families rallied and collected £500 – revealing the figure in a special video of children performing a Christmas song.
Enzo Vullo, Reception class teacher, said: “Our parents have ensured that families in the community will have one less thing to worry about this Christmas.
“We know how generous our parents are, but their donation of £500 exceeded all our expectations and, to be honest, made us quite emotional.
“The effort it takes to film - in Covid-19 safe conditions - and create one video from 30 different videos is unbelievable.
“We are very lucky to have such kind, generous and proactive parents.”
The school also collected food donations for the food bank.
Anna Myatt, head of school, said: “We are overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of our families in these unprecedented times. Kindness is one of our school’s main values and these donations demonstrate the true meaning of Christmas to our children.”
