Children take leap of faith on residential
Posted: 22nd November 2019Primary school children took a leap of faith and headed off on a residential trip.
Year 5 and 6 pupils from Roydon Primary Academy spent three days at the Kingwood activity camp in Kent.
The group of 37 pupils took part in wall climbing and high rope activities the leap of faith, crate stacking and Jacob’s ladder, as well as an obstacle challenge, nightline, fire making and a campfire.
Children, who also enjoyed a disco, stayed in dorm rooms where they had to make their own beds and take on personal responsibility.
Laura Spring, deputy headteacher and English lead, said: “The aim of the residential trip is to promote independence and to try new things and to challenge themselves.
Many of the children have not experienced the types of activities that Kingswood offers and it is a joy to see them push themselves to achieve their own personal goals. They work together as a team on many of the activities.
“I am always so proud of the way the children conduct themselves and their behaviour is always excellent.”
