Children launch campaign on "dangerous" road
Posted: 14th June 2019Children have launched a campaign to tackle the “dangerous” road outside their village school.
Members of the school council at Roydon Primary Academy raised the issue of the road outside during drop-off and pick-up times.
As a result, the school has joined forces with the North Essex Parking Partnership to launch the 3PR scheme.
The initiative introduces three parking rules in an attempt to reduce the amount of traffic and congestion on Epping Road.
The school has also been working with Essex Police who have been carrying out speed checks at drop-off times.
Parents are now being urged to park with “care, consideration and caution”.
Headteacher Michael Clark said: “We always want children and their families to be safe and currently the situation on Epping Road is dangerous.
“The roads in our village were not built for modern vehicles, so we need our community to park with care, consideration and caution.
“The children have been great in helping to spread the message.”
A large banner has been displayed at the front of the school and leaflets informing parents where else they can park and the dangers of the current situation have been distributed.
