Day devoted to maths - and monsters
Posted: 15th March 2019Monsters and wild things helped youngsters get to grips with maths.
Roydon Primary Academy devoted World Maths Day to studying lessons with the theme of monsters to tie in with the text Where The Wild Things Are.
Every teacher was encouraged to celebrate World Maths Day with their class and talk about the importance of maths in our daily lives.
Pupils created monsters out of 2D shapes, measured aliens, created monster maths board games and created monsters using only quadrilateral shapes.
Matt Girvan, maths lead, said: “Maths is such an important part of our lives and celebrating World Maths Day alongside Book Week throughout the school allowed us to highlight the importance of the subject while doing a creative and engaging cross-curricular activity.”
