100% attendance for pupils
Posted: 14th December 2018A campaign to boost attendance has seen primary school children attend class 100 per cent of the time.
Roydon Primary Academy has been working with parents to raise awareness of the importance of being in school and the effect not being in school can have on a child’s education.
Through regular updates, information booklets, attendance bulletins and rewards, the school has raised awareness and made attendance a priority.
For the autumn term, more than a third of the school achieved 100 per cent attendance, with several days seeing every child in school and learning.
Headteacher Michael Clark said: “Being in school is vital for children’s progress. If children are not in school, they are missing chunks of the curriculum. Missing one day a fortnight adds up to more than three whole weeks of education a year!
“We have worked hard to show the importance of attendance and are very happy to see these great figures. We are very thankful to our parents for their continued support.”
The success has been celebrated with children awarded with certificates, trophies and a display at the heart of the school to give pupils pride in their achievements.
