End of Year Message

Posted: 14th July 2017

As this academic year comes to a close, I think we can all look back on a very successful one for the school. It took me a little while to acclimatise to village life, it is very different from inner city teaching which is all I had known previously. It took me a term or so to work out what works at Roydon and where we needed to improve. The whole journey this year has been very enjoyable (if not a little stressful). There have been some bumps In the road however as we break up for Summer the school is in a really good place, and in a much stronger position than 12 months ago in my opinion.

Roydon is extremely lucky to have such a passionate and supportive community! Thank you to all the parents and carers who have given me feedback this year and been extremely supportive of the school. We will continue to make sure your children are provided with the best possible education next year.

Thank you to FORSA for all their hard work this year raising funds for the school and spending them on materials that we desperately needed. I look forward to working closely with FORSA again next year! They are an incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic bunch of individuals, thank you for your hard work.

A very big thank you to all the staff at Roydon! We are very lucky to have such a talented bunch of teaching and support staff who go above and beyond for your children on a daily basis. Their hard work and dedication is a big reason for the progress the children make. They have been flexible and open to change this year and for that I am very grateful.

Sadly, we do have to say goodbye to our brilliant Year 6 children, they have been amazing role models, we are all very proud of them and wish them the best of luck at their secondary schools. We also have to say goodbye to Mrs Mercer and Ms Kent both of whom are moving on to new challenges. They have both been brilliant for Roydon and will be missed.

Thank you to the children, who are just amazing! They work so hard, I wish them a wonderful summer break!

Thank you for your continued support. I will see you all back on Monday 4th September. Have a safe and enjoyable summer break!

Kind Regards

Mr Michael Clark
